Recycle Yarn
Recycled yarn is a sustainable alternative to virgin fibers, created by reprocessing existing materials such as post-consumer plastic bottles (rPET) or pre-consumer fabric scraps into high-quality textile fibers. By diverting waste from landfills and reducing the reliance on petroleum based raw materials, recycled yarn is the cornerstone of the modern “circular economy.”
Why Choose Recycled Yarn?
Understanding the benefits of recycled fibers is the first step in sourcing.
- Environmental Impact:
Reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 50% compared to virgin yarn. - Waste Reduction:
Diverts millions of plastic bottles from landfills and oceans. - Performance:
High-quality recycled DTY offers the same strength and durability as standard polyester.

How Recycled Yarn is Made
The transformation from waste to wearable fabric generally follows a precise technical process:
- Collection & Sorting: Waste materials (like PET bottles or ocean plastic) are collected and sorted by color and type.
- Cleaning & Shredding: Materials are thoroughly cleaned and crushed into small flakes or “chips.”
- Melting & Extrusion: These chips are melted down and pushed through a spinneret to create long filaments.
- Texturizing: For DTY (Draw Textured Yarn), these filaments are drawn and twisted to give them the softness and elasticity required for apparel.
